The first things I like to talk about are omega-3 fatty acids, I'm sure you've heard this story before. No doubt you will also hear it many times again, because omega-3 fatty acids have so many benefits. They are not only good for our brain and memory, but also for our heart and over-all health.

Scientists believe that the omega-3 fatty acids that are found in freshwater fish contain the omega-3 fatty acid that will help improve brain function. This is probably how fish became refer to as brain food.

Cold-water fish such as salmon and sardines are high in omega-3, and so is flax seed. Many nuts such as walnuts and almonds contain high levels of omega-3 and also vitamin E, making them good choices that will also fight memory loss.

The next thing you must consider is water. How many times have you heard we should be drinking eight glasses of water a day? Drinking plenty of water ensures that we maintain proper brain function. Drinking water is essential in keeping the brain working properly. If you become dehydrated, you can easily become confused; it's a side effect of the brain starving for water.
