- Drink lots of water and caffeine-free teas. You should be drinking anywhere from 8 to 12 cups of water a day (even more, if you are an athlete or working out intensely). Do not drink diet sodas. They contain toxins that accumulate in your body and will impair performance over time. Diet sodas also contain chemicals that throw your hormones out of whack.
- Toxins are stored in fat. There are two ways to decrease your fat stores without surgery: diet and exercise. Do both to decrease body fat and decrease the amount of toxins in your body.
- Sweat! This goes along with the previous example. Your body expels toxins through your sweat. Break a sweat working out or by spending a few minutes in the sauna or steam room.
- Chlorella is a single-celled fresh water algae that binds to heavy metals, like mercury, and removes it from the body. Make sure you are buying "broken cell wall" chlorella, which means that it is digestible. Otherwise, it will pass right through you. No one wants to waste money in this economy.
- One of the many important jobs of the liver is to detox the body. The liver is subject to oxidative damage as it detoxifies the rest of the body. With that said, it is of the utmost importance to keep our liver healthy. One way to do this is not to consume more than one drink containing alcohol per day. Another way is to take a milk thistle supplement, which is rich in silymarins. These compounds help liver cells to regenerate, prevent them from absorbing too many toxins, and are powerful antioxidants that prevent oxidative damage to liver tissues.
- Eat fresh asparagus and broccoli to get more glutathione in your body. Glutathione is a super-antioxidant that protects every cell in your body, helps the liver process toxins, removes toxins from the body, and protects the liver from oxidative damage.
- Eat kale, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, or any veggies that are high in Vitamin C. This antioxidant is needed to maintain adequate amounts of glutathione and Vitamin E in the body.
